(WBNG Binghamton) The Food Bank of the Southern Tier will participate in a challenge to gain more funding.
It's the Feinstien Foundation's $1 million challenge.
It began Friday and will continue until April 30.
The money that the Food Bank raises during that time will be counted in the challenge.
The Rhode Island-based Feinstein Foundation will divide $1 million to participating non-profit groups that focus on feeding the hungry.
The more the Food Bank raises, the more funding it receives from Feinstein's $1 million. The foundation will match whatever is raised locally.
In the past, the challenge has raised more $1.5 billion for hunger-fighting organizations nationwide.
