Town of Dickinson, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Usually the goal of hockey is to get more goals than the opposing team. At Hockey 4 Hope, the goal is to support people battling cancer.
Players hit pink ice at SUNY Broome Sunday for the annual charity game. On each of the players' jerseys was the name of a person battling cancer.
The proceeds from the event benefit The Geller Oncology Fund of Lourdes Hospital, which supports cancer patients at Lourdes Hospital.
"Everybody out there, whether they had cancer of they didn't have cancer, everybody knows somebody who has had cancer," organizer Brian Laing said. "So it touches everybody near and dear to their hearts."
Several autographed jerseys from the B-Sens and LA Kings were auctioned off to raise money.
Hockey 4 Hope has been running for five years.
