Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Hundreds gathered in Binghamton to pay their respects to 24-year old Mario Masciarelli.

Masciarelli was murdered last Friday along with 35 year-old Christina Powell. Their bodies were discovered in Powell's home in the Town of Binghamton.

Friends and family of Mario Masciarelli spent the afternoon sharing childhood stories and comforting each other during the wake and funeral.

Hundreds lined the First Assembly of God parking lot to honor a man's life, taken too soon.

"He brought so much joy to so many people I think that's very clear by turnout you see here," said Paul Brian, Mario Masciarelli's cousin. "A tremendous turnout. Lines down the road and across the street so I think that pretty much tells the story."

A family member said although he didn't know everyone who showed up to pay their respects, the long lines were full of love.

Some walked in with flowers, but all brought with them memories of Masciarelli. They recalled stories from a playful childhood to a young man's devotion to his family.

"We'll always remember him for the great things he did and the happiness he brought to everybody, obviously it's a very tragic event, a very sad situation," Brian said.

Inside the church stood his family, arms wrapped around loved ones and surrounded by flowers and pictures.

His mother, Mirella, gave the Eulogy that shared an uplifting message filled with tears and laughter. She asked anyone who had a story to tell about her son to share it with her after the service, because memories are all that she has left of him.

"Obviously the time is now to be with them," Brian said. "To comfort them through this difficult time."

It was prayers of comfort and hope that filled the church. Masciarelli filled his life by cherishing his loving family, and now his family are doing the same.

Mario was born on Mother's Day, May 8th in 1988.

He is survived by his parents, Anthony and Mirella, and his stepfather Terry Walsh and stepbrother, Benjamin.
