Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) More than 500 girls came out Sunday afternoon for the Girls World Expo in downtown Binghamton.
The Expo has been going on for four years and started in San Diego, California.
Over the last four years, Girls World and girl power have hit several places across the United States.
This is the second year Girls World has come to Broome County.
The owner said the number of events has grown from one to 20 across the U.S.
"A lot of communities are wanting us to come and talk to their girls and were happy to do it," Varinda Misset said.
The expo caters to girls 11 to 17, featuring local entertainment and local resources.
Throughout the DoubleTree Hotel's grand ballroom, various booths were set up.
Girls could get their hair and makeup done, shop for jewelry, and even explore teen counseling.
In Girl's World, the motto is "Love Yourself."
"At the end of the day, we have a huge fashion show called "All Girls, Real Sizes," which is the whole crux of our message," Misset said, "you're beautiful from the inside."
Inner beauty and giving back to your community are two themes Girls World promotes with its Girls of Merit award.
Each year, community members nominate their ladies of choice.
Out of nearly 100 nominees, ten of them are honored with the title.
"I was so honored to be recognized as a Girl of Merit," said Kaitlyn Jackson, one of last year's Girls of Merit, "and to see the stories of the other girls was very inspiring."
The event ran from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
