Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Through governmental adjustments, more help will be coming to regions of New York that were hit by Superstorm Sandy, Hurricane Irene, and Tropical Storm Lee.
A public hearing for the Binghamton area was held Monday night for community input on changes to the New York Rising Action Plan which Governor Cuomo is calling Amendment Six.
Cuomo recently made an announcement that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has allocated an additional $2,097,000,000 to relief efforts.
Added to the initial $1,713,960,000 in federal Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds, the extra money will bring the balance to $3,810,960,000.
In addition to funding, other updates to the Action Plan include a Comprehensive Risk Analysis, a needs analysis to repair and replace damaged housing and infrastructure, and clarifications and budget adjustments.
The Governor's Office of Storm Recovery hopes that the revised Action Plan will help bring swift help for communities in need.
