Town of Union, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Democratic Candidate for Town of Union Supervisor Jack Cheevers says there needs to be change in the Town of Union.
"Bottom line I don't like what's going on in the Town and I think I owe it to the people of the town," said Cheevers.
This isn't Cheevers first time running for the Supervisor's seat. He has lead the town for a total of eight years, starting in the 70's and more recently in the 2000's.
Cheevers calls it a responsibility to the residents.
"I don't make this a career but if they trusted me then I think I owe it to them as one of the few people who knows how things are going," said Cheevers.
According to Cheevers, its not going well at all. He feels communications is lacking with the residents and meeting need to become more public.
"To me it's a closed, very closed club type attitude," said Cheevers.
"They've got good people, but to put it bluntly the Town of Union is not the little sisters of the poor. They pick up the garbage, plow and maintain the road, and they have good park systems," said Cheevers.
Stressing the town should be working towards more and making more available for its residents. Cheevers also points out something the town doesn't have.
"They have no paid policemen, no paid firemen, so financially the town is pretty solid," said Cheevers.
