Norwich, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Hundreds showed up looking for a job in Norwich.
A jobs fair at the SUNY Morrisville campus was hosted by Republican Congressman Richard Hanna.
More than 20 companies showed up looking to fill a variety of positions. From corporate to manufacturing, full-time to part-time, there were many positions available.
Employers said the job fair gives them a look at local talent.
"To be able to meet people face to face, make some initial contact, to understand what kind of roles they're looking for," said Alicia Terascavage of GE Aviation. "And what kind of companies they're looking to go with long term."
Some job seekers had been out of work for a year or more.
"I need a job," said Casey Fairbanks of the Town of Afton, "I need to get out on my own. I need a car for the winter. It's just stuff like that."
Congressman Hanna said he hopes to host many similar fairs across the district.
