Johnson City fire extinguished in minutes

Johnson City, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A fire was extinguished within minutes due to quick response from firefighters.

According to the Johnson City Fire Department, a call came in at 1:37 p.m. on Sunday for a fire at 78 Elizabeth St.

At 1:38 p.m., firefighters arrived on the scene and the flames were put out within 5 minutes.

According to the JC Fire Department, the fire started in the backyard near garbage cans.

One person was home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries.

There was minor damage to the siding of the home, but flames never entered the house.

Binghamton Fire Department and Johnson City Police also responded to the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
