Johnson City, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The 47th annual Johnson City Field Days returns for Labor Day weekend this year. Organizers have been at the park for nearly a week preparing for the festivities.

The fair kicked off at 6 p.m. Friday at Northside Park on Harry L. Drive. Organizers have been at the park as early as Sunday preparing for the festivities.

Organizers said there is a lot of time and thought behind the layout of the Field Days, which can be like a huge jigsaw puzzle.

“We lay it out and I know how much space I got along each fence line, and we just start creating a puzzle out of it and hope we can fit it all together when the day comes,” said head of field set-up Charles Snedaker.

The Field Days runs through Monday evening. The gates open at noon throughout the weekend.

Fireworks will be Monday at 9:30 p.m.

Admission is free. Proceeds from the celebration will benefit the many local non-profits that participate in the field days.
