(WBNG Binghamton) With most businesses closed on Christmas, many took to the movies to get out of the house.

Many well known actors had their movies open today, like "The Wolf of Wall Street" featuring Leonardo Dicaprio, "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" with Ben Stiller and "Grudge Match" featuring Robert de Niro and Silvester Stallone.

What brought people out to the theaters was exactly why most people stay home: being with loved ones.

"Some of the kids are far away now and we wanted to do something together," said Bob Walkley. "We don't have much time, maybe a couple days this year."

"My husband and I go to the movies every year Christmas morning," Leslie Wood added. "We don't have kids, it's something we can do together."
