Man Arrested In Chenango Murder Investigation

Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Police say they have the person responsible for murder of Daniel Martinez in the Town of Chenango.

According to Broome County Sheriff David Harder, the suspect was being questioned by Broome County investigators Tuesday night.

That man is Joseph A. Ross-Jones, 25, of Lincoln Ave in Binghamton.

He was arrested Tuesday night around 6:00 P.M.

Ross-Jones is charged with 2nd Degree Murder, a class A1 felony. He is now in the Broome County Sheriff's Facility with no bail set.

This comes just after investigators seized the vehicle involved in the homicide.

The body of Martinez, 27, was found by an off-duty corrections officer in a wooded area on Wilson Hill Road.

The cause of death is listed as "multiple traumatic injuries and blood loss." Martinez had suffered gunshot and stab wounds, and a handgun was found at scene.

Deputies still have not determined why the Bronx man was visiting our area.

The Broome County Sheriff's Office notes that the case was solved in 56 hours.

The Broome County District Attorney, New York State Police, Endicott Police, NYPD's 79th Precinct Detectives, and US Marshals assisted with the investigation
