Cortlandville, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Cortland County Sheriff's Department arrested Lane Day, 22, of Cortland and charged him with attempted burglary in the third degree (class E felony).

The sheriff's department received a call at approximately 12:44 a.m. on June 3 from the manager of the Plaza 6 Cinema located on Route 13 in the town of Cortlandville.

The manager said he had found Day hiding in the theater after the business had closed.

When officers arrived, the manager said he had closed and secured the theater at approximately 11 p.m. to run some errands. The manager returned to the theater a few minutes later to find Day hiding in the office.

When the manager confronted Day, he ran from the building. The manager gave chase and caught Day at the rear of the theater, according to a news release. He then let him go and contacted the sheriff's department.

After tracking down leads, Day was found approximately 30 minutes later at his apartment at 82 Groton Ave. He was taken to the Cortland County Sheriff's Department where he was later arrested for attempted burglary.

The management is not reporting anything missing or damaged as a result of the subject being in the theater.

Day was taken to Cortlandville Court for arraignment and remanded to the Cortland County Jail on $5,000 cash, $10,000 bond.
