Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Imagine losing everything right before the holidays.

That happened to one local family.

But now they are getting a helping hand thanks to the generosity of the community.

Earlier this week they received new furniture.

Thursday it was the Binghamton Firefighters Benevolent Association hand delivering Christmas to the whole Tauteroff family.

There were plenty of smiles and excitement from both the kids and the fire fighters/

The connection the fire department has with the family will always be special...

"They came in our lives that early morning in December. And today we are coming into their lives, in the hopes of bringing them a little bit of Christmas," said Chris Mallery of the Binghamton Fire Department.

As the firefighters were going into the house, some of the Tauteroff children could not resist saying "thank you" to the new friends they made.
