Town of Union, NY (WBNG Binghamton) With a decline of 20,000 volunteers over the last 15 years, the Firemen's Association of the State of New York brings in a partner to kick-start its yearly recruitment campaign.

Dunkin Donuts stores across central and upstate New York will display RecruitNY signs and give customers informational handouts.

The Endwell Fire Department participated in the effort Thursday to get the word out by displaying firetrucks and equipment used by volunteers.

According to FASNY, New York has 92,000 volunteer firefighters and the demands put on the volunteers has changed.

"It take more firefighters today to man some of the specialized equipment that we have. The specialized units that we have across the state. And we will continue to need more firefighters to do this," said FASNY Vice President Robert McConville.

RecruitNY 2013 runs April 27 - 28 with open houses and demonstrations by volunteer departments. For more information visit the website www.recruitny.org .
