(WBNG Binghamton) Traffic will flow steady starting Tuesday in an area that's been closed off due to work on the Prospect Mountain Project.

The DOT says it's been a long-time coming.

Crews plan to work through Monday night to make sure traffic will flow on the new ramp over the river.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane around Route 17 by Airport Road all the way to interchange four.

"There's been a tremendous amount of work out here on this project. A lot of dedicated, hardworking individuals out here and it's very rewarding to know that we're going to start using the new infrastructure in order to demolition the old infrastructure," Region 9 Director Jack Williams said.

All of the work is being done so that vehicles are able to travel on the new bridge on 17-East over the Chenango River.
