Chenango, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Students received a special treat while enjoying an end of the year celebration.

Students and teachers celebrated the last day of school Thursday at Chenango Bridge Elementary with a pudding and whipped cream pie-eating contest.

This is the second year the school has held the competition and after three plates of pudding pie, the school had its champion.

"It was fun coming in first all three times and shoving my face into pie," said winner Donavon Tomm.

Fourth grade teacher Carrie Vesci said the contest is a way for students to let off some steam.

"You know last year, I think just with the Common Core and all the stress and the tests, we just needed a way to come back and just let the kids be kids a little bit and have some fun," said Vesci. "So we thought, what better way than to have a good old-fashioned pie eating contest."

More than 140 students participated in this year's competition, where they polished off almost 200 plates of pudding.
