Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A Binghamton University fraternity gives back to their local community with rakes, soil and flowers.

Theta Delta Chi teamed up with two master gardeners to clean and plant new flowers at Walnut Street Park Saturday morning.

People of all ages raked leaves, pulled weeds, and planted a garden above the mosaic wall.

The fraternity did it all in attempt to make the park better and safer for the Binghamton community.

Nicholas Kumelowski said cleaning up the garden is a way to bridge the gap between students and local residents.

"We care a lot about this neighborhood and we definitely care about improving and showing a good face for Binghamton University," Kumelowski said. "We're all smart kids and we just want to show our best."

Brothers said they hope cleaning up the park will strengthen the community and help cut down crime on Walnut Street.

The TDX house is two blocks away from the park.
