Town of Binghamton (WBNG Binghamton) The man arrested for Friday's double killing in the town of Binghamton pleaded not guilty Tuesday to two counts of second degree murder.
Aaron Powell, 39, of Milford Street, was taken into custody Tuesday morning by law enforcement in Susquehanna County.
Powell faces two counts of murder in the second degree in the deaths of his estranged wife Christina Powell, 35, and her friend Mario Masciarelli, 24, of Binghamton.
The two were found dead Friday morning in Christina Powell's home at 4185 Lisi Lane in the town of Binghamton.
Powell entered the court room Tuesday shackled at the waist after being escorted by several heavily armed members of the Broome County Sheriff's Office.
His only words were to the judge when asked if he understood the charges he faces.
Powell replied,"Yes, sir."
A man acting as Powell's attorney at the time of the arraignment entered the not guilty plea on behalf of his client.
Powell was remanded to Broome County jail without bail.
Pre-trial motions have been reserved until Powell meets with a public defender.
