Greene, NY (WBNG Binghamton) It was all about learning how to land the big catch Sunday at Cook Park.
Dozens of kids got a lesson in fishing from professional angler Jim Root.
The kids traveled all over the park's lake, setting up their rods and reels.
Root says for beginners, it's important to appreciate natural resources.
"The thing with fishing is to protect our resources," Root said. "To make sure that we save the water and the fish the best we can, so that our future generations can continue to enjoy the sport like we do."
The kids enjoyed the nice, warm weather, and some were lucky enough to even catch a fish.
Cook Park is planning to host another clinic later on in the summer.
