Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Another name is added to the ballot for city court judge; Christian Root announced his candidacy Thursday night.

Friends and family gathered to hear Root officially become a candidate for Binghamton City Court Judge.

The Democrat said he believes this is the most important judge position because it deals with every case from animal control to land lord issues to domestic disputes.

"My experience, my empathy, and my sense of respect for people and people in this community, I think my experience and my dedication to public service puts me above all of the candidates that are running for city court judge," Root said.

Root grew up in the City of Binghamton and has been an attorney for more than 22 years.

He is currently the First Assistant County Attorney for Tioga County.

He joins two other democrats on the ballot, and the vote is in November.
