(WBNG Binghamton) Members of Binghamton High School's Students Against Destructive Decisions or SADD group gathered on Friday to light The Katie Titus Tree of Life in what has become an annual tradition for the SADD Group.

The Tree is covered with white bulbs, and will be replaced with a red bulb if anyone in the community dies in an accident that was caused by destructive decision.

To this date no red bulbs have been put on the tree.

Senior Malcolm Barreiro said, "Our advocacy has led to awareness throughout the community about distracted driving. And that has led us to having only white bulbs."

All of this is done in honor of Katie Titus, a member of the Binghamton SADD Group who died in a non-alcohol related car accident in 1996.
