Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Science fiction fans descended on RoberCon Sunday to be their favorite character.
This is the first year of RoberCon. It's a convention that brings SciFi lovers from across the area together.
Tom Henderson was one of the hundreds of science fiction fans who packed into the Roberson Museum for the festival. He was dressed as Han Solo.
"When I was a kid I could dress up like Han Solo just around the house, so this just seemed like a natural progression to go the full nine and put the costume on," said Henderson.
Henderson wasn't the only one who dressed as his childhood hero.
Joe Skovira was there as Indiana Jones.
"It's easier to get stuff from the '30s than it is to do something from the future," said Skovira.
For those who weren't into the costumes and comics, organizers also had video games like the original Tetris from 1988.
"I think what makes this a great event is we are a unique setting," said Jason Fiume of the Roberson Museum and Science Center. "Most 'cons' are done at convention centers or hotels. This takes place in a historic mansion and museum."
Jamie Finley goes by 'Nalowin' when she's dressed as a wood elf from the great forest. She drove two hours from Albany to meet up with her elf clan for the festival.
"This game, I started going with my boyfriend who is the other elf, but before then, I was in a vampire LARP and that was a little too hardcore for me," said Finley.
Organizers say the dream is to have RoberCon compete against Comic-Con in the future.
