Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Local business professionals talk with students about what to expect when preparing for a career.
Seton Catholic Central 7th and 8th graders were able to take a break from their normal schedule to gain some valuable insight at their annual career day.
Students ranked their career interests in different fields and they were assigned to a variety of presenters throughout the day.
The idea is to expose students to the world of work and what opportunities are available
"We have to expose the students to a variety of careers so they can hopefully see some relevance to what their doing now and how that might, apply to their options in terms of taking courses in high school and then beyond as they go on to college," said Seton Catholic Guidance Counselor Colleen Curtin
"It's going to give me a way of knowing what I should be working on if I want to go into a certain field," said 8th grader Khoa Boi.
This year, career day included 18 different business professions, including computer science, collegiate athletics and mental health.
