Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Local firefighters are honoring the brave firefighters that responded in New York City on September 11, 2001.
Members of the Binghamton Fire department climbed 110 stories today, the exact number of stories of the World Trade Center.
Chris Mallery remembers exactly where he was when the first tower got hit.
That's when he realized that he wanted to be just like the firefighters that responded on 9/11.
"I was in the post office. You know, most people remember where they were. You know I was already kind of thinking about doing it. But that just confirmed that I wanted to do it all that more," said Chris Mallery.
Firefighters suited up and made the climb up the stairs at the state office building in Binghamton.
They had to climb to the top a little over seven times to reach the 110 story mark.
They feel it's the best thing they can do to honor the firefighters that lost their lives that day.
