(WBNG Binghamton) A Steuben County town will gain hundreds of jobs. That's according to an announcement made by Governor Cuomo and Corning Incorporated.

The announcement comes from Governor Cuomo's office and Corning Incorporated.

They say the jobs will be created as part of an expansion to Corning Incorporated's diesel plant in the Town of Erwin.

The planned expansion will be about 94,000 square feet.

The company will invest about $250,000,000 into the project.

New York Lieutenant Governor Robert Duffy says the expansion is a great thing for the southern tier.

"it is our hope that these jobs will last a long long time and hopefully grow above and beyond the 250 jobs that have been projected, said Duffy."

The expansion allows Corning to increase the company's emissions control products and address the demands for emissions control projects.
