Town of Chenango, N.Y. (WBNG Binghamton) A woman went on a drunk-driving rampage early this week while trying to elude authorities.
Broome County Sheriff's deputies said Donnette F. Russell, 38, of Bainbridge, was arrested Monday for driving while intoxicated and other charges.
Deputies said a resident in the town of Chenango reported an intoxicated driver in his driveway on Smith Hill Road. The caller did not know the driver, but mentioned the driver was trying to leave the scene.
Deputies said when they arrived on the scene, the driver, Russell, struck multiple trees, a garage and a parked car. Deputies say Russell also struck the caller with her car before fleeing the scene.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with injuries not life-threatening.
Deputies later spotted Russell driving on Upper Front Street and were able to pull her over on Route 12a. Russell appeared intoxicated and refused a roadside breath test.
She was taken to the Broome County Jail on suspicion drunk driving.
There, Russell took a breath test, which revealed her blood alcohol level to be a concentration of 0.30, nearly four times the legal limit of 0.08.
Russell is charged with reckless endangerment in the first degree, aggravated DWI, criminal mischief in the third degree and leaving the scene of a personal injury incident. All these charges are felonies.
She was taken to the Broome County Jail without bail.
