Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Earlier this month, the Pope started a Twitter account to share his message with the world.

In a few short weeks, he already has over 1.2 million followers.

Students at Seton Catholic Central High School are among them and spent part of today reaching out to Pope Benedict, asking everything from his favorite color to his feelings on the Mayan Doomsday.

They commented on how it gives them a stronger sense of connection with the Pope.

Peter Sawicki, a senior at Seton Catholic, said, "Him communicating with us via Twitter is like reaching out to us and showing us that he's there for us."

Kavan Rai, also a senior, said, "It's an interesting way to get answers about any sort of questions. We answer them in Theology class and we always talk about what the Pope would say. This is a way for us to actually be able to maybe get a response and be like 'oh, this is what the Pope actually says.'"

The Pope can be found on Twitter as @Pontifex.

He has been sharing Bible verses and inspirational quotes regularly since first logging on.

He has set up multiple accounts for different languages.
