Owego, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Tioga United Way kicked off its 2013 fundraising campaign at the Boys and Girls Club in Owego, outlining their goals for the upcoming year.
By the end of December, the Tioga United Way hopes to have raised $300,000. That was the goal when the United Way kicked off its 2013 fundraising campaign at the Boys and Girls club in Owego.
The non-profit will re-distribute the funds to member agencies. Although the bulk of the services are for family and youth, the group also works with local pantries and senior citizens.
Dot Richter, Co-chair of Tioga County United Way, noted that the community is very grateful for the help.
"We'll be reaching out to not only the local businesses, but also member agencies for support and contributions to keep it going. This will help support the local agencies, and keeping their doors open and serving Tioga County residents," said Richter.
Along with their expected allocations for health, finance, and education services, United Way anticipates a continued need for flood assistance this year.
