Owego, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A country singer traveled more than 100 miles to sing a tribute for fallen Owego firefighter Matt Porcari.
Paul Cummings, a firefighter in Rochester, is on a "30 shows in 30 days" fire house tour.
He normally doesn't travel farther than 50 miles, but he was moved by Porcari's story when Porcari's uncle contacted him.
"A day after Matt's death, I was on Facebook and saw this post about the 'Firefighter's Song'," Lee Dunham said, referring to one of Cummings' songs. "I listened to the music and it just brought tears to my eyes."
He emailed Cummings, told him the tragic story of Porcari's death and Cummings offered to perform for the Owego community.
The proceeds from the concert will be used for a training program at the Owego Fire Department that will include a live-burn building to make training as realistic as possible.
Dunham, also an Owego firefighter, says he hopes the training will prevent future tragedies.
Porcari lost his life while battling a house fire on Jan. 21.
The concert is just one of the several events that have honored his life during the past two months.
