Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Vestal Elks got into the holiday giving spirit with less than 48 hours before Christmas.

A van full of presents unloaded at the Catholic Charities of Broome County Monday morning as the Elks dropped off the toys for children in need.

For the past few weeks, the Elks have been collecting toys for 150 underprivileged children with each child receiving up to four gifts.

"We're a charitable organization and we really like to give back to the community whatever we can and this is one of the we feel one of the more important things in the area to take care of," said John Gardner, exalted ruler of the Vestal Elks Lodge #2508.

It wasn't just toys on the kid's wish lists, but everyday necessities.

Some children asked for items like socks, underwear and sheets for their beds.

The presents were dropped off later in the day to the children in need by Catholic Charities.
