Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Honor traveled full circle as New York State American Veterans awarded scholarships to relatives of veterans.

NYS AMVET gave out more than $43,000 in scholarships Saturday afternoon at the Double Tree hotel.

High school seniors, college and grad students received 19 scholarships during an awards ceremony.

The students honored had to be related to a NYS AMVET.

Each recipient had a chance to speak after receiving their scholarship, and every winner thanked the veterans for their service and sacrifice.

For Long Island native Jaclyn Skoblicki, it was the third time she received the scholarship.

"Winning the money has really helped me pay for my books, to pay for my classes, and to pay for those little extra things that I wouldn't be able to do if I didn't have it," Skoblicki said.

Skoblicki will graduate with her second masters degree next year.

Along with the scholarships, NYS AMVET also contributed nearly $150,000 to the troops.
