Town of Union, N.Y. (WBNG Binghamton) Delta Engineers, Architects and Land Surveyors challenged their employees to walk and run during the month of April.
The company promised to donate $1 per mile to a worthy cause.
A total of 17 employees surpassed 10 miles and recommended charities to receive donations.
After a random drawing, it was decided the money raised would go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
"It was really near and dear to my heart that we picked Make-A-Wish because they do help kids who really have life threatening illnesses and help make a difference in their lives and create memories for them," Darlene Cempa, a controller at Delta, said.
The money will go toward the 90 wishes that Make-A-Wish Central New York grants every year.
These wishes don't only brighten the children's day when they're granted, but also give them something to fight on for.
"Really the important part of a wish is that it gives a child who's coping with a life-threatening medical condition hope. Hope to look to the future and hope to dream about what it is they want to make happen," said Diane Kuppermann, president and CEO of Make-A-Wish Central New York.
Delta Engineers presented a $950 check to Make-A-Wish to match the 950 miles logged by their employees.
