Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Binghamton Boys and Girls Club opened early to accommodate kids who needed a place to go after many schools let out early. The club had more than 60 students studying and playing games Friday afternoon. The club also provides a hot meal to anyone needing it. Boys and Girls Club Executive Director Marybeth Smith said she sees the program's importance on days like this. "To be here when the kids get out of school, if that means they get out of 11, we open up. If they get out late, or a little bit later, we open up," Smith said. "If they don't go to school at all, we open up early so they have a place to go." The club closed at 3 p.m. in an effort to make sure students and staff got home safe before the storm.
