Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) When the white stuff hit the ground this morning in Binghamton, it was all downhill for Mary Driver and her two kids.

Her son Nick sleded down the slope in their front yard, while she helped her daughter Ally make snow angels.

"We woke up at seven o'clock this morning, saw the snow, and it was eat breakfast as fast as you could and start sledding around," said Driver.

Turning a problem into playtime, Driver took the storm in stride.

"This is a great time for kids," she said, "I'm not big snow lover myself. But it's good to let them out, and enjoy it."

Not everyone got the snow day. although maybe a late start.

Patrick Guinane works as a sales manager for the Press and Sun Bulletin, but first he had got to dig out his car.

"I'm probably gonna be a little late to work today," said Guinane.

Those who weren't late to work, the 32 plows and their drivers from the state Department of Transportation.

The NY DOT in Binghamton had plows on 24-hour operation which meant that no plow stayed in during the storm.

"We've been out on the road since about 2:30 yesterday afternoon," said NY DOT spokesperson David Hamburg, "And continue on the road taking care of all different kinds of conditions."

The DOT said the 24-hour operation won't stop until all the snow has fallen and the roads are cleaned up.

Meanwhile, people like Bob Ford snow blowed his troubles away.

"It's winter," said Ford, "You're gonna live up here, you gotta enjoy it or else move."

As for Driver and her kids, she's happy for the day.

Just the one day.

"I like the first snow. I like a couple of big snows, and then I like it to stop," said Driver. "I'm not a winter person, but I'll take advantage of it when I got it."

Getting it is easy, getting rid of it may not be.
