She loved to visit lighthouses and collect lighthouse memorabilia. Ruth retired from Barnes-Kasson Hospital after twenty years of service.

Ruth's final wishes were that there be no calling hours or services and that her burial would be at a later date at the convenience of her family. Her wishes were that if anyone would like to make a gift in her memory that it be given to either the Susquehanna County Historical Society and Free Library Association (18 Monument St, Montrose PA 18801) or designated for her granddaughter Sara Van Cott's ministry with Wycliffe Bible Translators (PO Box 628200 Orlando FL 32862). Arrangements have been entrusted to the Bartron-Myer Funeral Home, Inc., Montrose, PA 18801.
