Jeanette Hastings, 84, of Binghamton passed away at home peacefully surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her parents, Codie and Mildred Lewis; her brother, Codie; and sisters, Evelyn, Myrtle, Georgianna and Shirley. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, H. Tom Hastings; children, Janet Gee, Franklin "Butch" Hastings, Colleen (Dave) Tierney; six grandchildren, Jim Sheridan, Keith (Sam) Sheridan, Kelly (Mike) Powers, Michael (Brandy) Gee, Daniel Tierney and Danielle Tierney; 11 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, James Perkins and George (Cindy) Lewis; and sisters, Margaret Kittle and Barbara Freeman. Jeanette retired from Binghamton General Hospital, was a longtime Boy Scout and Girl Scout Leader, was organizer of the Lewis Family Reunion for 50 years and was always gladly helping others. Gram, to many people, was known as the best grandmother in the world.
A Funeral Service will be held 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 4th, at the THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 137 Robinson St., Binghamton. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 noon until the time of the service. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made in Jeanette's memory to Lourdes Hospice or to a charity of one's choice.
