On October 3, 2012, Esther L. Swartz, 90, of Owego, NY passed away peacefully. She was the daughter of Russell and Esther O'Dell Seaver and wife of Floyd L. Swartz. She was predeceased in death by her parents; her husband; her infant son, Floyd; and brothers, Charles Seaver and Russell Seaver; sister, Eileen Seaver; son-in-law, George Ulrich; brothers-in-law, Robert Williams, George Spicer, Lester Swartz, Leon Swartz, Dick Swartz, and Dick Barnes; sisters-in-law, Mildred Hecht and Helen Gumaer. She is survived by her children, Les Swartz and his wife Jan, Dennis Swartz and his wife Cindy, and Beth Ulrich. In addition, she leaves grandchildren, Cindy Ann Motter, Mike Swartz, Michelle Stouffer, Kami Harpell, Kiersten Maloney, Dan Swartz, Fred Ulrich, James Ulrich, Robert Ulrich, and Katrina Rought; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sisters, Arlene Williams and Charlotte Spicer; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Seaver and Katherine Seaver; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Esther enjoyed working with numbers and such, was employed as a bookkeeper with many local municipalities and businesses throughout the years, including the Village of Candor, the Town of Owego, and most recently the Town of Tioga. She appreciated the challenge of a good crossword puzzle, a lively game of cards, camping with her husband and "goin' to the Downs" with her daughter. She was proficient in creating cross-stitch works of art for her grandchildren and painting pictures.

At her request, there will be no calling hours. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in Esther's name to American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association, or a charity of your choice. If you received kindness recently, pay it forward.
