Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. Ps 116:15~~ Wilma E. Rising, 93, of Owego passed into the arms of her Savior early Sunday morning, October 7, 2012. Wilma is survived by her loving children and their spouses, Herman and Donna Rising, Dawn and William 'Skip' Hughes, Janet and Paul Nelson. Also surviving are her four cherished grandchildren and their spouses, Paul and Traci Rising, Anne and Dan MacDonald, Daniel and Heather Nelson, Joseph and Kelly Nelson; her 11 great grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Minka Rising; and several nieces and nephews. Born on November 17, 1918 in Independence, NY, she was the daughter of the late Wallace

Wilma was a longtime and faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Newark Valley where she served as a Sunday school teacher, AWANA leader and as a member of the Missions Committee. For many years she was a secretary for Tioga County Co-Operative Extension in Owego. She was a woman of conviction and strong character. These traits, coupled with her 'can-do' spirit, positive attitude and loving nature, endeared her to all and she will be greatly missed. She was an avid gardener and generously shared the fruits of her labors.
