John G. Hochrun, 76, of Binghamton passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 surrounded by his loving family, after a short battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his parents, John Hochrun, Sr. and Helen Allen; and his wife, Mary Anne Hochrun. He is survived by his daughter, Joanne Hochrun; his son and daughter-in-law, John Jr. & Cheryl Hochrun; stepdaughters, Amy Estrada and Richard Holloway, and Midge Goble; stepsons, Richard, Mark and Vincent Layton; granddaughters, Brittany Stringer and Justina Hochrun. He is also survived by 5 step-grandchildren; a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Stringer; 4 step-great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, James & Sue Hochrun; and many nieces, nephews and cousins, including Kathy Balcer, who was a big help to her Uncle John. John was a retired 42-year employee of Vail-Ballou Press and the Binghamton Press after 28 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, pool, golf and scrimshawing. Whatever he did, he did well. He was also a lifetime member of the Mountain Trail Bowhunters Club.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 12, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at the Bednarsky Funeral Home, Inc., 96 Glenwood Ave., Binghamton. Family will receive friends on Friday at the funeral home from 2:30 p.m. until the time of the service at 4:00 p.m.
