Leona Duckett, 95, passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2012. Leona, formerly of Endicott and recently residing in Syracuse, was predeceased by her husband, James; parents, Jonah and Johanna Morris; and her three brothers and eight sisters. Leona is survived by her loving children, Dennis (Catherine) Duckett, Elkton, MD, Regina (Thomas) Davis, Syracuse, NY, Peg (John) Orzel, Whitney Point, NY, Mary (Louis) Gelatt, Endicott, NY, Beth (Gary) Zimmerman, Syracuse, NY, and Patty (Chris) Hotalen, Matawan, NJ; 22 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Charles Reardon; and several nieces and nephews. Leona was employed by the Village of Endicott, Becker Law Office and as a secretary at Seton High School, Endicott. She was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Endicott. Leona enjoyed the many fun times with family, playing bridge, doing counted cross stitch, crossword puzzles and baking the best chocolate chip cookies! She will always lovingly be remembered for her patience, generosity and the strength of her faith.
A Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 701 W. Main St., Endicott. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at our Lady of Good Counsel Church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until time of the Mass at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions in memory of Leona may be made to Most Holy Rosary School, 1031 Bellevue Ave., Syracuse, NY 13207.
