Softly in the morning you heard a gentle call, you took the hand God offered you and quietly left us all... Christina Cousins, 96, of Owego passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at the Homestead Care Home. Christina will be greatly missed by numerous nieces, nephews and their families, friends and neighbors and the caring staff at the Homestead. Christina was born on September 14, 1916 in Wayne, NJ, a daughter of the late August Jacob and Christina (Mott) Dotterweich. On August 21, 1954 she married James Cousins and together they shared fifty-one years of marriage until his passing on May 5, 2006. Chris and Jim were retired employees of Western Electric. Following retirement, they moved to Montrose Turnpike and made Owego their home. She loved to spend time in her garden and with her dog, Oscar. Christina was predeceased by her husband, siblings, August Dotterweich of Owego, Rubina Arnot of NJ, Fritzi Webber of NJ, and Julia Jones of Newport, NY.

Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Friday, November 16th from 6 to 8 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, November 17th at 11 am with Pastor Jon Austin of the Lounsberry United Methodist Church. Interment and prayers of committal will follow in the Gibson Corners Cemetery.
