Curt O. Pixley

On September 16, 1960, Curt O. Pixley was born in Sidney, NY, second son of Donald K. and Ruth (Loper) Pixley. Curt died suddenly on November 10, 2012. He was predeceased by his father, Donald, and infant brother, Patrick Pixley. He is survived by his wife, Eileen P. Pixley; mother, Ruth L. Pixley; mother-in-law, Dorothy Laidlaw; son, Benjamin Pixley; daughter, Cassandra (Evan) Vandermay; step-children, Adam and Danielle Creery, Tom and Sara Forsythe; three brothers, Blane (Susan), Michael (Joyce) and Stephen Pixley; his granddaughter, Charlotte Poth; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Curt was raised in Bainbridge and graduated from Bainbridge-Guilford High School in June 1978. He graduated from Wilmington College in Ohio with a B.S. in Agri-biology in 1982. His love of family and animals, especially his rescue dog Poot, showed through his adult life. He worked at varying jobs as a laborer, gardener and in sales, including managerial and assistant managerial positions. Curt married Eileen Brady on January 2, 2005 and was the rock of her life. He attained the rank of Eagle Scout in the B.S.A. He attended Union Valley United Methodist Church and was a former member of Bainbridge-Afton Lodge #167 F. & A.M. as well as Gamma Phi Gamma. Curt enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and golf. He lived the motto " Have hope, be strong, laugh loud, play hard and live the moment".

Funeral services will be 12 noon Saturday at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St., Binghamton. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 7-9 pm and Saturday from 11 am until the time of the service. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Afton at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please make gifts in Curt's memory to the American Red Cross, 620 E. Main St.,Endicott, NY 13760. Heartfelt condolences to Curt's family - especially his kids. I knew Curt since we were in 7th grade together. He was one of the first Bainbridge kids to welcome me (a Guilford kid) to a new school. Prayers and thoughts for you all.
