Jasper C. "Gip" Nemcek, 100 1/2, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at Bridgewater Nursing Home. He was predeceased by his parents, Gaspar & Mary Nemcek; a grandson Jeffrey Palmer; and multiple siblings. He is survived by his wife, Bernadine (Bezek) Nemcek; and his first wife, Mary Dranchok, the mother of his children; a daughter, Barbara & Calvin Palmer; granddaughter, Maribeth & David King; their children, Andrew, Jonathan and Lauren; a son, Brian & Georgia Nemcek; granddaughter, Alicia & Todd Campbell; their son, Devin; a stepdaughter, Anne Bezek & Tim Kiley; grandsons, Scott and Kyle Reid; a stepson, Stephen & Joan Bezek; grandchildren, Jeremy, Lindsey and Cory; their children, Trevor, Kadyn and Kamryn. Gip is also survived by 4 sisters, Martha, Gertie, Bea and Dot; a brother, Richard & Madeline Nemcek; his special buddy, Ginger Reed, who spent time with him each and every day; and his Slovak friend, Geri, with whom he enjoyed chatting in Slovak. He was a member of St. James Church. Bernie wishes to thank the caring staff at Bridgewater on Unit 3B who took such wonderful care of Gip. Thank you for all the friendships extended to both of us. Bless you all. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 AM on Monday, December 10 at Bednarsky Funeral Home, Inc., 96 Glenwood Ave., Binghamton, and at 9:30 AM at St. James Church, where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Family will receive friends from 2:00-6:00 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
