Marie Madeline Lofstrom

Marie Madeline Lofstrom, 89, most recently of St. Louise Manor, Binghamton quietly passed away on Monday, December 24, 2012 at Binghamton General Hospital. Marie was predeceased by her husband, Edwin J. Lofstrom. She is survived by her two daughters, Nancy & John Cooley of Hillcrest, Diane and Mike Leahy of Sandy Pond, NY; grandchildren, Matthew, Bethanne and Scott (Grianne); and her great-grandson, Ryan; also a sister, Mary Lauretta Normile; and several nieces and nephews. Marie was a lifetime member of St. John's Church where she was a member of the St. John's Mothers Club. She was also a member of the K of C Ladies Auxiliary. She was a well-known manicurist in the Binghamton area. She was an avid reader, who often frequented the Binghamton Public Library, was an excellent cook, loved to travel and especially enjoyed wintering in Myrtle Beach with her husband. Marie, a longtime member of the Binghamton YWCA, also enjoyed water aerobic classes with her "swim ladies". Marie was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be dearly missed by many. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Louise Manor for their excellent care over these past few years.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Sts. John and Andrew Church, 1263 Vestal Ave., Binghamton, NY 13903. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of her family. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St., Port Dickinson, NY 13901 on Friday, December 28, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please kindly consider memorial contributions in Marie's name to the American Diabetes Association, 6390 Fly Rd., East Syracuse, NY 13057.
