Robert J. Coonick, Sr., 85, of Endicott passed away peacefully Thursday morning, December 27, 2012. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph & Josephine Coonick; his brother, Joseph Coonick, Jr.; and his nephew, Aaron Coonick. He is survived by his loving wife, Faye Coonick, Endicott; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Jr. & Lisa Coonick, Endwell, Joseph & Andrea Coonick, Endicott; his daughter, Renee Coonick, Endicott; five grandchildren, Andrew, Caroline Faye, Zachary, Matthew, and Penelope Faye; his brother and sister-in-law, Thomas & Juliene Coonick, Endicott; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Jeri Faggioni, TN, Laura & Robert Musa, NC, Marie Conklin, Endicott; also many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Endicott, and a veteran of the US Navy Seabees serving on Okinawa in the South Pacific during WWII. Bob was the co-owner of the Pine Inn in Endicott. Later, he was the owner/operator of Johnson City Distributors, where he was affectionately known as the Peanut Man. He then was employed by IBM Endicott, from where he retired. He was an avid Notre Dame University and Atlanta Braves fan. Bob was an avid softball player, bowler, and golfer who had five holes-in-one to his credit. He was a loving husband, father, and papa who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, 9:30 a.m. from the Leon Pucedo Funeral Home, Inc., 1905 Watson Blvd., Endicott, and at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Entombment will be in Riverhurst Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Pucedo Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon from 2-5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Mr. Coonick may be made to a charity of one's choice.
