Roderick "Rod" Kimball, 90, of Greene went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at his home. He was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie Harris Kimball; daughter, Gail Bailey; parents, Ben and Maggie; two brothers, Richard and Elwood; and sister, Frances Peters. Rod is survived by son-in-law, LeRoy Bailey, SC; two daughters and sons-in-law, Leslie and Marshall Day, MA, Debbie & Dave Spear, Greene; grandchildren, Benjamin, Bryan and Kimberly Bailey, SC, Lisa and Charlie Moisakis and Marcie Day, MA, Amanda and Tim Jones, Cortland, Kurt and Kelsey Spear, MA; three great-grandchildren, Adyson, Alyssa and Nicholas; sister-in-law, Bev Harris; and several nieces and nephews. Rod served his country in the US Navy in the Pacific during WWII. He retired from Greene Central School District after 29 years. He was a member of the First Congregational Church U.C.C. in Greene. Rod always had a smile and he never met a stranger.
Funeral and committal services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Root Funeral Home with Rev. Curtis Whitman, pastor of his church, officiating. Burial will be in Sylvan Lawn Cemetery in the spring. Friends of the family may call Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Root Funeral Home, 23 N. Chenango St., Greene, NY 13778. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rod Kimball Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Dollars for Scholars, PO Box 354, Greene, NY 13778.
