Anthony (Tony) Dekar, of Endicott went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 6, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Angie; daughter, Valerie; parents; brother, Paul; sister, Mary Ann; and son-in-law, Steve. Tony is survived by his wife, Agnes; daughters, Cassandra Bowen, Angeline (John) Manze and Amy (Ron) Parks; stepsons, Thomas (Nina) and John (LeeAnn) Shattuck; his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Joshua (Jessica), Brittany (Blake, Kailey, Cameron), Brooke, Nathan, Samuel, Matthew, Joseph, Jonathon, Nicole, Lindsay and Jake, who all brought great joy to his life; along with his loving brother and hunting/fishing buddy, Walt (Sam). He served his country in the armed forces of the US Marines Corps as a PFC, serving in the Pacific Theater and China. Tony was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Endicott, the Czechoslovak Moravian Club, Johnson City American Legion Post 1305 and was retired from Amphenol Cadre.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, Endicott. Burial will be in Slovak Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at church Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until Mass time at 11 a.m. The Czechoslovak Moravian Club will meet at church Thursday at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to St. Joseph's Shrine Fund, 207 Hayes Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760 or Mother Theresa's Cupboard, 202 Garfield Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760 or the charity of one's choice.
