Robert Kemp Irwin, 93, of Greene was born in Arvaugh, County Cavan, Ireland on May 5, 1919 and left us January 21, 2013. He is survived by wife, Anna; son, Robert Jr. and Lenore Evanosky; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Larry Driscall; three grandchildren, Julie and Albie Harris, James and Vivian Driscall, Daniel and Colleen Driscall; three great-grandchildren, Joseph and Claire Harris, and William Driscall. Robert came to the United States as a child. He attended school in White Plains and Greer School in Dutchess County. Bob served his country in the US Marines from 1943-1946. He ended with the rank of Staff-Sergeant. He graduated from New Paltz Normal School and taught school in Kinderhook. He became a school principal in Stottville and spent 18 years as principal of Chenango Forks Central School.

A memorial service will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday at First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, Greene with Rev. Curtis Whitman officiating. Friends of the family may call 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday at Root Funeral Home, 23 N. Chenango Street, Greene, NY 13778. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Congregational Church U.C.C., 28 N. Chenango Street, Greene, NY 13778 or Moore Memorial Library, 59 Genesee Street, Greene, NY 13778.
