Betsy C. Kozarski, 70, died in New York City at Mount Sinai Hospital. She endured heart valve surgery, but died of medical complications in the recovery process. Betsy was predeceased by her parents, James and Frances Rendle; mother-in-law, Genevieve Kozarski, and father-in-law, Anthony Kozarski. Also predeceased were her sister, Patricia (Nonnie), and brother-in-law, John Maas, and her brother, Wade (Spike) Rendle. Betsy is survived by her husband, Daniel; sister-in-law, Dale Rendle of Nicholson, PA; her nephew, Robert Maas, wife, Jodi, and sons, Ethan and Owen of Seattle, WA; her nephew, James Maas, wife, Barbara, and sons, Joshua and Aiden of Wesley Chapel (Charlotte), NC; and niece, Leigh Sickler, husband, Bob, and son, Justin of Springville, PA; and nephew, John Rendle of Palmerton, PA. She is also survived by many close friends. Betsy graduated from Misericordia College in Dallas, PA. She was a retiree from Susquehanna Valley School District where she taught fifth grade at Cedarhurst Elementary School for several years. To Betsy, each student was an individual with unique strengths. Betsy supported her students after school by attending their various activities. Betsy will always be remembered as a caring teacher and personal friend to many. Her generosity and kindness of spirit will never be forgotten by those whose lives she touched. To quote Dr. Seuss on the meaning of life: "Don't cry because it is over, smile because it happened." (Betsy's suffering is over and smile because her life's mission was successfully accomplished.) Betsy was a member of St. Ambrose Church in Endicott, NY.

A Memorial Mass will be offered at St. Ambrose Church, 203 Washington Ave. on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 10AM. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday morning from 9AM until the time of the Memorial Mass. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial contributions to Mother Teresa's Cupboard, 203 Washington Ave., Endicott, NY or Dollars for Scholars Susquehanna Valley Scholarship Fund, Susquehanna Valley School District, Conklin, NY in Betsy C. Kozarski's memory. Arrangements are by the J.F. Rice Funeral Home, Inc., 150 Main St., Johnson City, NY.

though I didn't know Mary, I wanted to write a comment because she seemed like a genuinely nice and good person. The world needs more of such types. John 5:28,29
