John F. Barina, 90 of Binghamton passed away at the NYS Veterans Home, Oxford NY on Sunday May 5, 2013. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Helen Barina, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. He is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law: John T. & Winifred Barina Binghamton and James M. & Latisha Barina, Salem, MA; two daughters and sons-in-law: Rosanne & Brian Runau, Indiana, Marie & Richard Mullins, Binghamton; four grandchildren & their spouses: Thomas Barina, Michael & Ceara Barina, Heather & Jeremy Packard and Sean Mullins; a great grand-daughter: Lillian Packard; 3 sisters & one brother-in-law: Julia Fiacco & Johanna Quick and Anne & Paul Sheredy all of Binghamton.

John was a member of SS Cyril & Method Catholic Church. He was a City of Binghamton Firefighter with a38 years of service and a past president of the Firefighters Union, Local 729. A meat cutter for Darlings Meat Company and a veteran of WWII. He was a forward observer for the 345th field artillery, US Army 90th Infantry Division, serving from Normandy to the Battle of the Bulge, where he was wounded and received The Purple Heart. John loved to fish and hunt, and spent many hours on Cayuga Lake.

A funeral service will be held Thursday at 9:00am at Laskowski Funeral Home and at 9:30am at SS Cyril & Method Catholic Church, 148 Clinton Street, Binghamton NY. The Family will received relatives and friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Arrangements and supervision by: Laskowski Funeral Home.
